Queen For A Day Event - February 21, 2-4 p.m.

The Miss Hibiscus Pageant Committee is hosting a Queen For A Day special event for women 16-21.

On Feb. 21 from 2-4 p.m. young women are invited to The Heritage Center at 2140 14th Avenue in Downtown Vero Beach to learn what pageant judges are looking for. The afternoon will be filled with professional image tips and public speaking/interview coaching.

Cindy Goetz, senior sales director with Mary Kay Cosmetics will demonstrate makeup for everyday as well as special occasion looks. Kim Hubbard, owner of The Color Experience, a Paul Mitchell Focus salon, will share her secrets to having a "Good Hair Day" everyday. J. Scott Kelly from Island Images Professional Photography Studio, Inc. will offer attendees a chance to have their photo taken with a pageant crown.

The "Miss Hibiscus "Pageant is April 16 and open to girls, ages 16-21, who live in Indian River County. All girls eligible for the pageant will receive a goody bag with style and beauty information, samples and coupons from local businesses. The afternoon includes refreshments and dessert.

The winner of the pageant will be crowned "Miss Hibiscus" and serve as an ambassador at various Downtown and City of Vero Beach events for the next year. The Queen receives $1,000, First Runner Up $500 and Second Runner Up $300; as well as other prizes and gifts from corporate sponsors. There are special awards for "Miss Congeniality" and "Most Photogenic."
